Asked what the Maryland Retailers Association has been up to since March, President Cailey Locklair said, “I have a list a mile long.”
MRA partnered with the State Emergency Management Agency to give away 30,000 facecloth masks to its sectors, which was a massive undertaking.
The association also joined with Scott’s, one of its retail members, to manufacture and distribute 2,000 face shields to any business that needed them.
“Those were some of the free face covering giveaways that we were a part of to help them because…a couple months ago, people couldn’t get face masks like you can get them now,” Locklair said. “So that was really critical and helpful to businesses at the time.”
In addition, for a couple of months, MRA was sending out daily emails to help its membership interpret new information, such as state executive orders. It also built a website, which could prove the most helpful accomplishment.
