LAST WEEK
On Wednesday, Governor O’Malley gave his State of the State and it depends on who you talk to as to wheat he said. The speech was titled “A Balanced Approach”. I say ha, ha, ha, what a joke. He said we have to make hard decisions. His agenda is strictly playing to the far left, and the primary election 2016. O’Malley has the same odds as the Washington Wizards winning the NBA Championship. Both sides of the aisle have problems with his agenda.
Last Monday the anti-gay marriage forces rallied against the gay marriage legislation. The Senate committee heard the bill on Tuesday and is expected to vote on it this Thursday freeing up the hearings in the Senate.
Back to the State of the State! The hard choices we have to make are: a “Flush Tax”; sales tax on gasoline; raise the taxes on upper brackets and various fee increases. The tax proposals total almost one billion dollars. O’Malley’s “Off Shore Wind Power” legislation is going to cost $2.1 billion to build and a rate increase in power to the users.
The Legislative Committee will meet on Wednesday and will review and vote on 55 House and Senate bills. MRA’s proactive bills, Vaccines and Secondhand Precious Metal Tagging, will be heard this week.
